Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you've wondered about council, Homecoming, Cabin Fever, and elections.

What does student council do?

Student Council helps plan some of the biggest events of the year, including Homecoming (the parade, assemblies, games, dance, dress up days, etc), Cabin Fever, and Teacher Appreciation Week. Student Council also reviews grant requests and helps provide funding for school clubs and activities.

What is Homecoming?

A week in the fall built around school spirit and grade-vs-grade competition — skits, wall decorations, floats, games, and dress-up days. Every grade racks up points across those events all week. On Friday there's typically a parade and football game, two seniors are crowned Homecoming King and Queen, and the week wraps up with the dance on Saturday.

What is Cabin Fever?

A week of team competition every January. Teams of 10 picked by students earn points by winning games, showing up to that week's sports events as a team, and finishing challenges. A lot of the games happen during study hall that week.

How are student council members elected?

Every May, each grade votes on who will represent them the following year. The six students with the most votes become that grade's council for the next school year.

Are some roles on the class student council more powerful than others?

No. Position titles are mostly ceremonial. Each member of the class council has the same voting power and the same say in decisions made during meetings.

What is the executive board?

The executive board is a group elected by the student council. They have more meetings and responsibilities than the rest of the council. Claire Hausler is the Student Body Secretary and Landon Delaney is the Student Body Treasurer.

Fun fact: The Class of 2028 is the only class in recent history to have never gotten last in a homecoming event. If you have any ideas for homecoming, visit the suggestions page. Suggestions page is open.
